Kerala style Meen Peera | Meen Peera Vattichathu | Kerala style Fish with shredded Coconut

Ingredients
  • Fish - 500 Grams, clean and cut into small pieces, I used Sardines
  • Shredded Coconut - 1 1/2 cup
  • Garlic - 8-10, sliced
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece, chopped
  • Red Pearl Onions - 15 - 20 , sliced
  • Green Chillies - 2 - 3, chopped
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Kashmiri chili powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 Teaspoon, adjust
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Gambooge / Kokum - 1 - 2
  • Coconut oil - 1 - 2 Tablespoon
Directions
  1. Add shredded coconut, sliced pearl onions, chopped ginger, chopped garlic, chopped green chillies, curry leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt to a pan and mix well using hand.
  2. After that, add in the kokum and the cleaned fish pieces , mix well.
  3. Then add in 1/4 cup of water, cover and cook on low heat.
  4. Once the fish is half cooked, add in the coconut oil, curry leaves and mix well.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat until the fish is fully cooked.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm.
