Ingredients
- Puff pastry - 2 sheets, cut each sheet into 4 squares
For Beef Roast:
- Boneless Beef - 250 grams, cut into small cubes
- Onion - 1 small, 100 grams, roughly chopped
- Tomato - 1 small, 50 grams, roughly chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
- Green chilli - 1 - 2 Nos
- Kashmir chilli Powder - 1 Tablespoon
- Coriander powder - 1/2 Tablespoon
- Black pepper powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Garam masala Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Fenugreek Powder - 1/8 Teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 - 3/4 Teaspoon, adjust according to your taste
- Lime Juice - 1 Teaspoon
- Curry leaves
- Coconut oil - 1 Tablespoon
For Plantain Roast:
- Fully ripe Plantain - 1 medium - large, cut into half, then slice each portion into 4 slices.
- Ghee - 1 Tablespoon
For Puffs assembly:
- Chopped Onion - 1/4 Cup
- Chopped Tomato - 1/4 Cup
- Egg White - 1
Directions
Beef Roast Preparation:
- Cut the boneless beef into small cubes, clean and wash, drain the water completely.
- Crush together the garlic, ginger and green chillies and keep aside.
- Add the beef cubes to a pressure cooker.
- Add in the chopped onion, chopped tomato, curry leaves, crushed ginger-garlic-green chillies.
- Then add in the Kashmiri chili powder, Coriander powder, Black pepper powder, Turmeric powder, Garam masala powder, a pinch of Fenugreek powder, enough salt and lime juice and mix well.
- Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes. After that, cook it on medium heat for about 5-6 whistles or until the beef is cooked well.
- Once the pressure of the cooker is completely released, add in the coconut oil and roast the beef well until all the water dries up. Set aside.
Plantain Roast Preparation:
- Take a medium sized ripe plantains and cut in half. Then cut each portion into 4 slices.
- Now heat ghee in a pan. Once the ghee is hot, add the sliced plantain pieces and roast on medium heat until both sides turn light golden brown in color and set aside.
Puffs Assembly & Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Line the baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Thaw the puff pastry sheets as instructed in the package.
- Spread the puff pastry sheet slightly using a rolling pin, to get the correct square shape.
- After that cut each puff pastry sheet into 4 pieces and keep aside.
- Then take a puff pastry piece, place a slice of roasted plantain on it, then spread one and a half tablespoon of beef roast, add some chopped onions and tomato on top.
- Now apply a little water on the edges of the puff pastry piece and seal the edges properly.
- Prepare the rest of the puffs in the same way and arrange them on a baking sheet.
- Now beat an egg white and brush it over the prepared puffs.
- Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the top of the puffs is crispy and golden brown.
- Then remove it from oven, serve warm.
